Support for notifications to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)

In April 2007, the Chemical Industry Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS) were issued. The purpose of DHS is to identify, develop, and ultimately secure and enforce effective security in high-risk chemical industries. Included in this responsibility is the requirement in the chemical industry to handle chemicals according to a threshold amount and submit an SVA for DHS review and approval along with a Site Safety Plan (SSP). A potential fine of $25,000/day, DHS inspection and invoice review, or operating permit revocation has been assessed for noncompliance.
